Adult B’nai Mitzvah
Oct 17 @ 10:30 pm - 12:00 am

Never became a Bar or Bat Mitzvah? Now is your time! Becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as an adult provides a unique opportunity to explore Jewish thought, practice and ritual. This is an 18-month class, with lively conversation on a variety of topics including liturgy and prayer, holidays, lifecycle, text study, theology, Reform Judaism. This is an amazing way to speak to your Jewish soul, to create community through shared learning, doing mitzvot and building relationships with others, lasting long beyond the class itself. It is also an opportunity for adults to learn the skills to be called to the Torah. Each class member will have the opportunity to read from the Torah as desired, and to help lead the congregation, culminating with a Shabbat morning celebration on March 7, 2020.

HIAS at Shabbat – Erev Shabbat Worship Service – Kol Shirah, dedicated to Daniel Pearl World Music Days
Oct 19 @ 11:00 pm - 12:15 am

This service is also dedicated to Daniel Pearl World Music Days, taking place throughout the month of October.  The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl lived a life that knew no geographical boundaries, with a spirit that knew no prejudice. A classically trained violinist and an avid mandolin and guitar player (whether it be classical, rock, bluegrass or jazz), Danny used his passion for music to form friendships across cultural divides; he connected musical groups the world over, through every community that he lived in.
