Finally Friday Shabbat

Ahh, it’s finally Friday! Come celebrate the last Friday of every month with us! We will have a family-mindful service for the entire community, followed by oneg and dinner. Wine will be provided. Registration for dinner is required.

Shabbat Sustenance– For the Body, Soul, and Mind

We will begin our Shabbat morning experience with sustenance for the body – bagels and shmear, coffee and tea.  From there, we will enter into soul-filled sustenance, that may vary some from week to week, including mindful experiences of prayer, music, meditation or yoga. The remainder of our time together with be sustenance for the mind, a time of conversation and insight. Come for the food, stay for the spirit – we hope you will join us on this nourishing Shabbat morning journey!

Tanakh Chevruta

Tanakh is Torah + Neviim (Prophets) + Ketuvim (Writings). The Hebrew Bible! Chevruta is a study and partnership. This study group explores Jewish spirituality by reading and discussing sacred tezts. We try to take a literary and historical view of Scripture and discern the lessons it offers to apply to contemporary life. The group decides which parts of the Tanakh to read together; last year we covered much of Deuteronomy and Numbers. Come explore the Tanakh with us; everyone has something to offer and something to learn!

Prerequisites: None

Text: Tanakh: The Holy Scriptures (The New JPS translation according to the traditional Hebrew text). Copis available in the NVHC Library or bring your own.
