Adult Purim Comedy Night & Megillah Reading

Join us on Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. for a night of Megillah reading, noshing, drinking, and laughter as we celebrate Purim! Your ticket includes one drink ticket and dinner. There will also be a cash bar.

In the Book of Esther, we read that Purim is a time for “feasting and merrymaking.” Bring your funny bone and join us to read a little Megillah, enjoy food and drink, and make merry at Adult Purim Comedy Night! Featuring local comedians Andrew Cook and Simone, and our very own Purim spielers (this year’s theme is superheros)!

Tickets are $36 per person and include one drink and dinner. There will also be a cash bar.

Advanced Modern Hebrew

This course will focus on gaining vocabulary and confidence with modern Hebrew, and on recognizing and using Hebrew grammar.

Prerequisites: Intermediate Modern Hebrew I or equivalent. At least one year previous instruction with conversational Hebrew and familiarity with basic verb forms.

Kehillat Limmud

Kehillat Limmud is our Religious School for grades K-7. Using an innovative and fun elective-based program, we teach students everything they need to be productive, knowledgeable, and spiritually capable Jewish young people. For our 8th-12th grade program, please see information on Tamid.

Tamid is NVHC’s 8th – 12th grade program. Meeting on Tuesday nights, Tamid focuses on building dynamic Jewish community through ongoing text study, social action projects, social time, and teen leadership initiatives.

The Big Jewish Ideas

As one of the cornerstones of Western Civilization, Judaism presents some of the greatest ideas of humanity. This lunchtime quick conversation will be a chance to explore 7 of these ideas in a way that is accessible, yet insightful: time, space, holiness, commandedness, love, justice and learning. The “class” requires no prerequisite knowledge or preparation, and people should feel free to join in from wherever. A zoom link will be emailed on Thursday mornings to registered participants. Shabbat Sustenance– For the Body, Soul, and Mind

We will begin our Shabbat morning experience with sustenance for the body – bagels and shmear, coffee and tea.  From there, we will enter into soul-filled sustenance, that may vary some from week to week, including mindful experiences of prayer, music, meditation or yoga. The remainder of our time together with be sustenance for the mind, a time of conversation and insight. Come for the food, stay for the spirit – we hope you will join us on this nourishing Shabbat morning journey!
