Food Packing
Apr 28 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Did you know that hundreds of kids in Fairfax County go home from school on Friday knowing that their next meal will not be until they return to school Monday morning?  NVHC Change  is helping to fight food insecurity and fill hungry tummies through the Weekend Snack Bag program for Forest Edge Elementary School and Clearview Elementary School. Once a month, NVHC Change volunteers donate food and pack 225 gallon sized bags with healthy snacks to send home with children in need, right here in Reston.

Come help us back the bags! Packing dates for the 2018-2019 school year are: September 23, October 28, November 11, December 16, January 20, February 24, March 24, April 28, and May 19.

Voices of Israel: Hearing the Hopes and Dilemmas of the Jewish State
May 5 @ 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm

Gather to study and discuss the work of Israeli writers since 1947 who address the challenges, inspirations and dilemmas of the state through poetry, song and short fiction. Instead of us discussing the nature of a Jewish State, we will hear from Israelis in their own words.

Israel Movie Series
May 5 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Explore Israel though the movies! We will watch a different movie each week, exploring different themes of Israel and Judaism, all the while experiencing various genres of movies.

This class will meet on the following Sundays: February 3, March 10, April 7, and May 5.

February 3: The Women’s Balcony

March 10: In Between (Bar Bahar)

April 7: Hunting Elephants

May 5: A Tale of Love and Darkness

Navigating Interfaith Family Life @ Social Hall
May 5 @ 9:30 pm - 12:00 am
Join us as we discuss the challenges and joys of interfaith family life. We’ll begin the evening with a dairy pot luck meal where we will connect with each other and share stories and strategies to address personal challenges. Then a multi-generational panel will talk about how they navigate family life—whether as a teen in an interfaith family, as a couple raising children as part of an interfaith family, or as a parent/grandparent whose children or grandchildren are part of an interfaith family.” Finally, we’ll explore ways that NVHC can continue the dialogue and potentially implement an ongoing program to support interfaith families. Please RSVP here and indicate what type of dish you will bring.
