SUMMARY:Adult B'nai Mitzvah Hebrew Class- Online
DESCRIPTION:This program will be approximately an 18-month journey. The first component\, which takes place on select Wednesday evenings throughout the 18 months\, consists of a course led by one of our three clergy on various Jewish topics including Jewish history\, key Jewish texts\, Jewish values and ideas\, and Jewish practice/ritual/holidays. There is no charge for this class\, and it is open to everyone.\nThe second component consists of developing Hebrew skills\, with the goal of being comfortable enough reading Hebrew to read or chant a bit of Torah and lead a few prayers. This component will take place simultaneously along the journey\, twice a month; it will be online and separate from the aforementioned class. Hebrew will be taught by our experienced Hebrew teacher\, Neta Litvin. There will be a fee associated with this element for instruction and materials. If this will be a hardship\, please contact our Executive Director Joe Miller confidentially; we do not want finances to keep you from learning.\nBecoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah at NVHC involves both of these components\, as developing knowledge and skills in these areas is the same expectation we set for our children. And like for our children\, the Adult B’nai/B’not Mitzvah process will conclude in a ceremony/service. Taking both the Jewish topics class and the Hebrew class are required for participation in the ceremony.
