DESCRIPTION:Democracy\, Israel\, and Zionism\nTaught by: Rabbi Holzman\nTuesdays\, October 24\, November 28\, December 19\, January 9\, March 19\, April 16\n6:30-8:00pm\, in person\, online by request \nZionism is the idea that Jews must have a state in our\nancestral homeland. That simple statement has been\ncontroversial since its inception. For many of us\, liberal\ndemocracy reflects core tenets of our Judaism\, meaning\nthat the Jewish state must be a democratic state\, and\nthe recent street protests in Israel over the proposed\njudicial overhaul reflect the difficulty of applying all\nthese ideas. Over the past seven years\, NVHC has been\nexperimenting at the intersection of Judaism and\ndemocracy and this year we will turn our focus to how\nthis intersection affects our Zionism and support for the\nState of Israel.
