SUMMARY:Americana/Social Justice Sing-A-Long with Cantor Caro
DESCRIPTION:The ongoing spirit of music is part of the fabric of our NVHC community. Songs have the power to move people\, more than words alone. Teaching people songs – and singing them together – can move us emotionally\, socially\, and politically. There is power in singing to move us and inspire us – the capacity of our people and the potential of this great nation. Cantor Susan Caro will share with us an inspired evening of songs of America\, of our dreams and our hopes. \nCheck your weekly emails for the Zoom link.

SUMMARY:Summer Book Study: The Moynihan Report
DESCRIPTION:**While NVHC’s building is closed\, all programs will take place online. Please see your daily email or email info@nvhcreston.org for more information.** \nThroughout the summer\, we’ve studied White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism by Robin DiAngelo. \nThis Thursday\, we transition slightly to studying The Moynihan Report\, one of the most controversial documents of the 20th century and a lightning rod for civil rights activists during the Johnson administration. Moynihan “hope[d] to persuade White House officials that civil rights legislation alone would not produce racial equality\,” and while it is best understood in the context of its time\, it remains relevant to today’s discussion of why racial inequality persists despite the passage of civil rights legislation.

SUMMARY:Conversations on Race in Our Commonwealth
DESCRIPTION:Virginia has a special place in the story of American racism. In May 2019\, Rabbi Holzman went on a clergy pilgrimage across the Commonwealth to encounter people and places that tell this story.
