DESCRIPTION:IN PERSON AT NVHC \nSince 2016\, NVHC has been creating programs that help incubate habits of healthy citizenship—listening across different viewpoints\, honoring dissent\, strengthening institutional governance\, complicating our understanding of American identities and narratives\, ritualizing critical moments of shared history—under the rubric of the [Rebuilding Democracy Project].  As we prepare for our upcoming programming year\, we would love to invite you to an organizational meeting of the Rebuilding Democracy Project on August 16\, at 7PM.  A key part of this meeting will be discussing a grant application that will enable NVHC to share our ideas with neighboring houses of worship\, and we will be asking for volunteers to become peer mentors and coaches in the project.  We will also be brainstorming ideas for the upcoming year.  We look forward to hearing your thoughts and having your help as we go forward with this important work

DESCRIPTION:Tamid is our religious school program for students in grades 8-12! Click here to learn more. \n\nTamid takes place on Tuesday nights from 6:15-8:00 pm. There is an optional dinner each week from 5:45-6:15 pm\, with catering from a variety of restaurants and cuisines. \nTamid rotates between a few different themes and types of programming: Jewish studies\, current events\, social/fun programming\, and tikkun olam (social justice) – with a few other fun one-offs sprinkled in. This provides students with an opportunity to go more in depth on a variety of topics of interest to them\, and have a good amount of time dedicated to each.

During this time\, we will also provide special paper upon which you can privately write down the qualities or characteristics that you would like to ‘cast off’ in the year ahead. These will be collected anonymously and brought to out Tashlich ritual on the afternoon of Rosh Hashanah\, to be cast off into the water. The paper dissolves\, as we hope will our sins and transgressions. We will also be able to make small spice bags to be used during the Havdalah that evening.  \n7:00- Havdalah and S’lichot\, including the ritual changing of our Torach covers to mark the beginning of the High Holy Days.
