As a center of community as well as of Jewish culture and spirituality, NVHC offers social activities for members of all ages. Social events are sponsored by many groups including our Brotherhood, Sisterhood, chavurot, and affinity groups. Follow the links below to find more information about our many social groups.

JCCNV – NVHC Active Adults is a fun group of adults 55+ that meet at NVHC for interesting speakers, films, cultural and education programs, holiday celebrations, trips to shows, museums, local historical sites, and more!

NVHC’s Brotherhood is a men’s organization dedicated to serving our congregation, supporting its youth, helping the Jewish community and building friendships and camaraderie among the men of our community.

NVHC’s Sisterhood is a women’s organization that promotes camaraderie, esprit de corps, spirituality and participation in tikkun olam – repairing the world – within our congregation and the greater Reston community.

A chavurah is a small group of people — including couples, individuals and families — who get together periodically. The primary purpose is to encourage Jewish families to know and interact with other Jewish families. This strengthens community ties and is a window into the synagogue, particularly for new members. Download the brochure for more information.

Affinity Groups such as the Silver Line, Photography Club or the NVHC Golf League allow congregants to share their love of a specific interest with like minded individuals.

There are also various Youth Groups for those in grades kindergarten through high school, a group geared towards Young Adults, and a group for Young Families.

Interested in creating a new social group at NVHC, like an LGBTQ text study group, a sports group, or even a board game group? We would love to hear your ideas!
