Join us in May 2027, as our NVHC journey to Greece and Bulgaria will bring an encounter with Judaism that has always been in conversation with the cultures around it.

In ancient cities of the Mediterranean and layered communities of the Balkans, we will explore Diaspora as both exile and creativity – where Jewish life engaged with empires, philosophy, trade, and neighboring faiths, giving rise to distinctive Sephardic and Balkan expressions of resilience, memory, and renewal. For centuries, Judaism lived there vibrantly and spiritually alive, not defined solely by tragedy, with deep connections to European and Mediterranean history; there are still embers which we stoke with our presence.

Through meaningful learning, sacred spaces, ritual beauty, cultural traditions, shared meals, and the relationships formed along the way, we will strengthen our communal bonds even as we expand our understanding of Judaism as profoundly global and interconnected.
