We Were Strangers in the Land of Egypt: How We Face Immigration

Jan 14, 2020 @ 7:15 pm - 8:15 pm

As Jews, we are no strangers to the concept of immigration. Our families were all immigrants from somewhere, facing difficult choices along the way. In today’s world, we are hearing about various issues surrounding immigration on a daily basis. Join us on a year-long series to explore a 360° view of immigration, helping us to gain a more nuanced understanding of the state of immigration in America today. Every month, we will have a speaker join us to share their point of view on immigration – from attorneys and judges to those in the process of immigration, from government employees to school counselors – each providing a unique look at immigration today. Following their presentation to our teens, our speakers will spend an hour with our lifelong learners covering these same issues.

This week’s speaker will be our very own Building Manager Anibal Blanco! Anibal hails from El Salvador and is currently going through the immigration process. Come hear him speak about his family’s journey to the United States and their experience of immigration and citizenship.
