Erev Juneteenth event

Juneteenth Observance
Thursday, June 18
7:00pm at NVHC

Join the Racial Justice Subcommittee for a meaningful and memorable Juneteenth Observance. We’ll begin with a ritual led by our clergy team, followed by a conversation with featured speaker, Liz Ryan.

This year, NVHC is thrilled to welcome Liz Ryan to NVHC as our guest speaker. She is the Stanley S. Nelson Distinguished Practitioner for Justice Reporting and Communications at Louisiana State University. She will present on her investigation into several civil rights era murders in Alabama that followed the U.S. Supreme Court’s Brown v. Board of Education decision in 1954.

We are excited to hear from Liz, and as an NVHC community, reflect upon some of the forgotten, cold cases of the civil rights era, and discuss what is being done to rectify the injustices that occurred.

NVHC member Kris Rose will moderate the presentation, with a Q&A discussion to follow.
