Classroom Programs topprevnextbottom

Our classes are designed to maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio enabling us to focus on individual skills in a group setting:

  • Our Two-Year-Old Classes (two day program, with three day option): Focuses on the child's transition to school. Teachers work to build socialization skills in a safe and loving environment. Maximum 5:1 student teacher ratio.
  • Our Three-Year-Old Classes (three day program with four day option): Unique activities are designed to enhance motor skills, increase verbal communication, introduce Pre-K skills, while continuing social interaction. Maximum 6:1 student teacher ratio.
  • Our Four/Five-Year-Old Classes (three or five day options): Focuses on preparing children for future education, with emphasis on Kindergarten readiness and self-esteem.
  • All of our children will benefit from enrichment themed activities such as poetry, art, Israeli dancing, cooking, music, science/nature, language arts, math, and much more, integrated into their daily schedule. Many of these are linked to Jewish values and traditions.
Music Programming topprevnextbottom

Music is an important offering at NVHC Preschool. During the week, Miss Beth comes to teach the children new songs, while incorporating dance, tactical skills, and movement for a fun learning experience.

For Shabbat (on Fridays), Miss Nell, often with the help of the NVHC Cantor Irena Altshul, teaches Shabbat, Jewish holiday, Israeli and Hebrew songs. She uses her 'teaching box' to incorporate rhythm instruments, rainbow streamers, a stuffed Torah, or other props to reinforce visuals or ideas in the songs.

Parents Communication topprevnextbottom

The parental experience is just as important as the child's experience in Preschool. This is often the first time parents are leaving their children in the hands of others. The Preschool staff and board understand this. We use a multi-faceted approach, which includes monthly calendars, teacher phone calls, emails, emergency announcements, and weekly updates from your child's teacher, the Director, and sometimes the music teachers!

NVHC Preschool has been everything that a preschool should be and much more for our whole family. Its greatest asset is its amazing staff who work hard to create a warm, loving atmosphere as well as provide a strong academic and Judaic foundation. The teachers' experience and wealth of resources and the low student-to-teacher ratios are great - not to mention a curriculum full of wonderful and meaningful lessons and activities. NVHC Preschool has clearly gotten our children off to a great start!

- Kelly and Adam Schulman, NVHC Parents

Our children have flourished at NVHC Preschool. The nurturing and loving environment provides a secure place for them to interact with other children, grow and learn. In addition, the curriculum has fostered an interest in and enthusiasm for Jewish culture, which will serve as a foundation for a strong Jewish identity.
